According to the Olympic motto “Be part of it“ schools from Tyrol and 2 Coubertin schools, including the BORG Radstadt, had the unique opportunity to attend the YOG world mile at the first Youth Olympic Winter Games. The 6b class of the PdC BORG Radstadt had the special honour to present Argentina there.
The Argentinian history, geography, lifestyle, food, festivals, languages, clothing and popular personalities were the major points of the presentations in the Congress Centre of Innsbruck. The students got professional support from their partner school “Colegio San Esteban” in San Fernando near Buenos Aires. They have had intensive contact with the Argentinian students since September. The presentation became lively due to an Argentinian game, the Mafalda comic, a Gaucho with a self-made llama, origami flowers and a power point presentation with Argentinian music. Another highlight was the performed Tango. Visitors and of course also the athletes were invited to dance tango with two professionals and the help of pre-painted footsteps on the ground. Each nation had the possibility to win valuable prizes with the help of the so-called “Yogger“, a usb stick, after answering a quiz correctly. Maybe there were some future Olympic winners among the visitors of the Argentinian booth and the taken photos will become very popular soon. Furthermore, the students got the opportunity to take part in some workshops for example photography, YOG-Dance, “Schuhplattln” (a traditional Austrian dance) or a cooking-workshop. These workshops were done together with some athletes. The great opening ceremony with over 15.000 viewers took place in the “Berg-Isel-Stadium” and was un unforgettable event for the teenagers. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the Argentinian athletes and we hope that they will come home with many medals. Rada Gajic (17) “I would do it directly again”. Alexandra Rettensteiner (16) “The contact with the athletes from different countries was an outstanding experience – Just cool!” Stefanie Mollner (16) “The Opening Ceremony was the most impressive highlight.”. Markus Novak (17) “The presentations together with the Tyrolean schools at the YOG world mile were the best.” |
